General Description

The Executive Director leads and directs the overall operation of the Facility in

accordance with resident needs, government regulations and Facility policies so as to

maintain quality care for the residents while achieving the Facility's business objectives.

Essential Duties

1. Works with the Facility management staff in planning all aspects of Facility's

operations, including setting priorities and job assignments. Monitors each

department's activities, communicates policies, evaluates performance, provides

feedback and assists, coaches, and disciplines as needed.

2. Conducts regular rounds to verify that resident needs are being addressed.

Monitors cleanliness and appearance of Facility, and morale of staff.

3. Verifies that consultants and other support resources are appropriately utilized.

4. Verifies a high level of inter-departmental teamwork is maintained.

5. Maintains a working knowledge and monitors compliance with all governmental

regulations and Facility Quality Assurance standards.

6. Monitors employee relations practices to verify compliance with employment

laws and Facility policies. Promotes practices that maintain high morale and staff

retention, including effective communication, prompt problem resolution and

positive reinforcement.

7. Manages turnover and verifies adequate staffing through development of

recruitment sources, and through appropriate selection, orientation, training, and

staff education.

8. Manages Facility budgets and business practices to include labor costs, payables

and receivables. Monitors business office activities to verify procedures and

standards are followed.

9. Develops and implements a marketing strategy for the Facility that reflects

service opportunities, competition, potential market area changes, and which

maximizes census, payor mix, and ancillary revenues. Leads and monitors key

marketing staff and plays an active role in carrying out the marketing plan.

10. Develops positive relationships on behalf of the Facility with the government

regulators, families, area health care community, and the community at large.

11. Supervises, conducts and participates in department and Facility education

activities and staff meetings.

12. Demonstrates availability to be on-call 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

13. Demonstrates knowledge of all State Department of Health rules and regulations

and provides adequate instruction regarding such rules and regulations to

appropriate staff.

14. Verifies the safeguarding of the medical record and any other information

pertinent to the resident or facility operations.

Standard Requirements

2. Is knowledgeable of resident rights and supports an atmosphere which allows for

the privacy, dignity and well-being of all residents in a safe, secure environment.

3. Supports, cooperates with, and implements specific procedures and programs for:

OSHA and safety, including universal precautions and safe work practices,

established fire/safety/disaster plans, risk management, and security, report and/or

correct unsafe working conditions, equipment repair and maintenance needs.

4. Adheres to:

a. Confidentiality of all data, including resident, employee and operations

data.

b. HIPAA regulations

c. Quality Assurance requirements and compliance with regulatory

requirements.

d. Compliance with current law and policy to provide a work environment

free from sexual harassment and illegal and discriminatory behavior.

e. Code of Conduct and Compliance Programs when performing job

functions

5. Supports and participates in common teamwork:

a. Cooperates and works together with all co-workers; plans and completes

job duties with minimal supervisory direction, including appropriate

judgment.

b. Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional

situations.

c. Follows up as appropriate with supervisor, co-workers or residents

regarding reported complaints, problems and concerns.

d. Promotes positive public relations with residents, family members and

guests.

e. Completes requirements for in-service training, acceptable attendance,

uniform and dress codes including personal hygiene, and other work

duties as assigned.

f. Participates as assigned in the orientation of new staff and demonstrates a

positive, helpful, and enthusiastic attitude.

6. Immediately reports incidents of alleged resident abuse or neglect or alleged

violations of residents' rights to appropriate authorities.

7. Maintains current practice standards or changes by participating in educational

opportunities provided by the Facility and outside resources.

 

Other Duties

Perform tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, but

which may be altered or redesigned depending upon individual circumstances. Performs

other work duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Training: Possesses a four (4) year Bachelor's Degree in a related field or

commensurate experience. Maintains a current, valid Nursing Home Administrator's

License.

A.D.A ((Americans with Disabilities Act)(as amended)) REQUIREMENTS: Must be

able to bend, stoop, push, pull, and walk and stand for most of the working day. Requires

manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as fax, telephone,

etc. Requires normal range of hearing and vision. Must be free from communicable

diseases that pose a "direct threat" to the health or safety of others and which cannot be

eliminated by a reasonable accommodation. Must be able to lift a minimum of 30

pounds, and be able to carry and transport supplies. Must be able to pass a post-offer, preemployment

physical health examination as a condition of employment. Must be capable

of performing the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable

accommodation(s).

Skill(s): Must possess proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills;

proficient interpersonal relations and communication skills; decision-making skills;

safety techniques; basic computer skills; able to operate various office equipment;

auditory and visual skills. Must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and in

writing, and possess sufficient communication skills to perform the tasks required.

Experience: Possesses a minimum two (2) year applicable management or comparable

experience in a long-term care setting.
